Welcome to IWpaths.co.uk

If you're new to the site, a special welcome. If you're planning on walking or cycling on the Isle of Wight, you've come to the right place.

IWpaths is here to give you the information you need for your walking or cycling activies on the Isle of Wight. Whether you've never visited before or have lived on the island for years, I hope you find something of use.

What's New?

No progress on the Coast Path this week, but the new Bus Timetable starts next week, with some major changes to the island's network. Give it a good look if you want to travel across the middle of the island from west to east (or east to west)
Last update: Sun 13th Dec 2009

One of the most recent additions to the site is the IWpaths blog. If you followed the trials of the site's relaunch, you will recognise it as the temporary website used in early May.

If you feel there is something missing from the site, please get in touch.
The site is added to and updated frequently; to find out what's changed, please visit the Updates page.

Here are a selection of paths I have used on the island:

IW Coastal Path

Other Recommended Walks

Suggested Cycle Routes
Cycle Route Sign: a typical example
65 miles of spectacular scenery, broken into convenient stages. A small (and growing) selection of routes suited only to walking. A mix of on- and off-road routes generally taking 2-3 hours. Normally also suitable to walk (but allow extra time).
Click on a town or village for more information - for more maps see access section:

Every route is described section-by-section, with points of interest, maps and transport details (where available).  Please note that rights of way, especially the Coast Path, do change from time to time, and you are advised to use these descriptions together with the appropriate up-to-date mapping (Currently OS Explorer OL 29).
If, while using these pages, you spot something out-of-date, please e-mail me so others do not get lost.  Thanks.
